EUMaster4HPC trains students on cutting-edge knowledge in HPC and HPC-related technologies taught by the best European specialists in HPC education.

What EUMaster4HPC provides our students with?

What EUMaster4HPC program empowers our students with?

Knowledge:

  • Declarative and methodological knowledge in mathematical modelling and algorithms.
  • Specialised, up-to-date procedural, declarative and methodological knowledge in statistics, parallel programming and parallel architecture.
  • Advanced research topics and applications in high performance computing for science and engineering.

Skills:

  • Applied and research skills in artificial intelligence, high performance data analytics, computational – linear algebra, statistics & optimisation and scientific computing.
  • Skills in parallel programming, distributed systems, middleware technologies, software engineering, compilers and parallel programming design.
  • Advanced skills in processors & HPC architecture design, memory hierarchy, pipelined and superscalar processors, I/O, storage, networking, and cloud design and deployment.
  • Transversal/soft skills and competencies in order to facilitate the integration into the job market; develop research topics & writing proposals and critically evaluate the problem & analysis skills.

Competences:

  • Create new ideas and procedures and manage complex, unpredictable solutions in the field of HPC.
  • Adapt rapidly to a multicultural working environment and understand the functionality of public and private entities.
  • Provide independent working method with self-direction and time management

Study Programme

Scholarships and Funding

Eligible students* will be awarded a scholarship from the EUMaster4HPC program to support expenses inherent to the programme (travel and accommodation).

 

Tuition Fees per Awarding University

The University tuition fees are waived for participating students.

 

Entry Requirements

Interest in solving engineering and scientific problems using computers and High Performance Computing.
  • Bachelor’s degree from STEM
    Or equivalent qualification in computer science, a relevant scientific or technical field, or mathematics.
  • Knowledge of programming
    Or more than 2 university courses in computer science from data structures, algorithms, programming or theoretical or technical computer science.
  • Comprehensive training in technical mathematics: algebra, linear algebra and probability and statistics,  functional analysis, numerics, optimisation, simulation / scientific computing
    Please list all appropriate courses in your application. (min. 4 lectures / courses).
  • Proficiency in  English
    (English proficiency of at least CEFR B2 / TOEFL 85/ IELTS 5 or higher, not older than 3 years; or a certificate proving that you have followed bachelor/master program of higher education in English).
  • Obligation to relocate for the second year of the master to another awarding university
    EUMaster4HPC programme is designed to promote mobility of students for the specialisation part during the second year of the study programme.s

Checklist of documents needed to complete the application

  • School-leaving certifcate
  • Transcript of records (If the transcript of records is not in a language of the EURO4HPC member states, please add an officially certified translation.)
  • University certificate (Or, if the studies are not completed yet: Certifcate, indicating the intended date of completion. If the certificate is not in a language of the EURO4HPC member states, please add officially certified translation.)
  • Curriculum vitae (Resume)
  • Letter of motivation
  • Certification of proficiency in English (Please refer to entry requirements)
  • Copy of passport/ID card
  • Copy of residence permit for foreign nationals already domiciled in Switzerland

The call for application is ongoing in consecutive application periods.

Applicants will be informed about the selection result via e-mail 3-4 weeks after the application deadline of the current period. If the jury considers it necessary, a personal interview (online) follows.
