Overview

EUMaster4HPC Summer School welcomes students from universities around the world to get cutting-edge knowledge in HPC and HPC-related technologies for 2 weeks, from July 16th to 28th, 2023.

High performance solutions play a key role in addressing environmental issues such as climate change, natural resource management, pollution control, greenhouse gas emissions, energy efficiency, and many others. This EUMaster4HPC Summer School has an excellent programme to train students capable of solving the world’s biggest challenges.

EUMAster4HPC Summer School 2023 offers students a unique opportunity to experience life as a EUMaster4HPC student.

Application requirements

How to apply

Before starting your application, please ensure that you meet the entry requirements!

  • The EUMaster4HPC summer school is designed for Master students with a Master 1 (bachelor + master 1st year) and Ph.D. students in mathematics, computer science, or engineering school specialised in HPC.
  • The EUMaster4HPC summer school is designed for candidates who are native English speakers or for students able to follow courses in English (English proficiency of at least CEFR B2 / TOEFL 85/ IELTS 5 or higher)

Step 1: Send the following documents by email to eumaster4hpc@uni.lu: 

  • Curriculum Vitae
  •  Copy of your Identity card or passport
  • Copy of your diploma* 

*diploma: doctorate, master’s degree, or proof of enrolment in the first year of a master’s degree in one of the following disciplines: mathematics, computer science, or an engineering school specialising in high-performance computing.

Step 2: After your application is approved, you must pay via the payment form on Summer School’s webpage and send a confirmation of payment by eumaster4hpc@uni.lu.

Summer school application deadlines: 

  • Application deadline: 15 June.
  • Deadline for tuition payment: 1 July.

Fees

Fees for the EUMaster4HPC Summer School 2023 are listed below: 

  • EUMaster4HPC students: free
  • Students from Partner Universities : 500€
  • Students from other universities: 1000€

The price includes:

  • summer school activities
  • accommodation
  • breakfast and lunch

Travel expenses, insurance and dinner are to be paid additionally. 

Important! Check your insurance. 

Students must prove that they have taken out an insurance policy that covers, at least, chance events during the mobility (travel assistance, civil liability, accidents and repatriation) and that must be valid for its entire duration.

The policy must include health coverage for students who do not hold the European health card.

Practical information

Activities

Technical lectures, industry presentations, case studies and group exercises from university representatives, industry experts, supercomputing and research centers.

All courses are taught on the University of Grenoble-Alpes campus in Saint-Martin-d’Heres, and many make use of the Alps as a learning environment with excursions in the mountains.

Location

The summer school will take place in Grenoble Alpes University, 621 Av. Centrale, 38400 Saint-Martin-d’Hères. The activities will take place in the UFR IM2AG building and Ensimag building, the local academic partners of EUMaster4HPC.

Accomodation

EUMaster4HPC Summer School offers accommodation in the Berlioz residence, a 10-minute walk from campus and 10 minutes by public transport from the centre of Grenoble. Breakfast and lunch are included, and Summer School also offers a programme of social and cultural events to help you make the most of your time in the Alps.

Travel / Transportation

All the information concerning the transportation to get to the main campus are   available on the UGA website.

Grenoble is located 3h by train from Paris, 2h from Geneva airport by bus and 1h from Lyon airport by bus. Student accommodation and the summer schools venues are located 20 minutes away from the main train station by public transportation (Tram)

*The summer school fee doesn’t cover the travel expenses.
