What EUMaster4HPC provides our students with?

What EUMaster4HPC programme empowers our students with?

Knowledge:

  • Declarative and methodological knowledge in mathematical modelling and algorithms.
  • Specialised, up-to-date procedural, declarative and methodological knowledge in statistics, parallel programming and parallel architecture.
  • Advanced research topics and applications in high performance computing for science and engineering.

Skills:

  • Applied and research skills in artificial intelligence, high performance data analytics, computational – linear algebra, statistics & optimisation and scientific computing.
  • Skills in parallel programming, distributed systems, middleware technologies, software engineering, compilers and parallel programming design.
  • Advanced skills in processors & HPC architecture design, memory hierarchy, pipelined and superscalar processors, I/O, storage, networking, and cloud design and deployment.
  • Transversal/soft skills and competencies in order to facilitate the integration into the job market; develop research topics & writing proposals and critically evaluate the problem & analysis skills.

Competences:

  • Create new ideas and procedures and manage complex, unpredictable solutions in the field of HPC.
  • Adapt rapidly to a multicultural working environment and understand the functionality of public and private entities.
  • Provide independent working method with self-direction and time management

Study Programme

Entry Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a STEM subject, computer science, or a related field. Please refer to the list of required bachelor degrees.
  • Proficiency in programming, demonstrated by the completion of at least two university-level computer science courses covering topics such as data structures, algorithms, and programming.
  • A solid foundation in technical mathematics, including subjects like algebra, probability, statistics, optimisation, and scientific computing. Please include a list of at least four relevant courses in your application.
  • English proficiency at the CEFR B2 level, or an equivalent score—such as 85 on the TOEFL or 5 on the IELTS, obtained within the last two years—or evidence of a degree taught in English.
  • Students are required to relocate for the second year of the master’s programme, as mobility is essential to the learning experience.

Checklist of documents needed to complete the application

To apply to the EUMaster4HPC programme, you will have to submit the following documents:

  • Curriculum vitae (CV) / Resume.
  • Letter of motivation.
  • Academic transcripts.
  • University diploma: If your studies are still in progress, provide an official certificate issue by your university, stating the expected completion date.
  • Certification of proficiency in English: Please refer to entry requirements.
  • Copy of passport / ID card.

Please note that any document written in a language other than English must be accompanied by a certified translation in English.

The call for application is open from 1 November 2024 to 15 July 2025.

Applicants will be informed of the outcome of their application via email by the EUMaster4HPC selection committee within eight weeks of submitting their complete application.
